At the beginning of this month, Pope Leo XIV was in Barcelona and blessed the Tower of Jesus of the Sagrada Familia, which coincided with the hundredth anniversary of Antoni Gaudi’s death. That does not mean that the famous church is now completely finished, that will still take a while, but the Torre de Jesus is of course the central and highest tower of the building. As if it were a real old cathedral, the Sagrada Familia has been under construction for over 140 years now and Gaudi’s work remains one of Barcelona’s great attractions.
Mars
Looking at his work, in addition to the organic flowing form, the bright colorfulness is particularly striking. You will not easily overlook a Gaudi creation, Gaudi often used the so-called Trencadis technique to get that color, Trencadis means “broken” in Catalan. It is a mosaic technique in which shards of ceramic, glass or marble are pressed into wet mortar. The important role of this technique with shards in Gaudi’s work and the bright color point in the direction of a planet, namely of Mars and indeed Mars is in the first house in Gaudi’s chart, so directly and intimately connected to his person.
That’s not all, Mars is also Lord 4 of buildings and Lord 9 of religion, Gaudi was a very devout Catholic, his spirituality was one of the great driving forces in his work. A planet that is in the first house will always play a major role in a life in all its meanings. Lord 10 of work in Gaudi’s radix is appropriately enough the art planet Venus, but it is rather weak in House 12. Yet his artistic work can manifest itself in the world because Venus makes a sextile with the Moon, which is Lord 11 of recognition. A planet can be “redeemed” from the weak twelfth house by an aspect or a strong reception.
Fluid
So Venus Lord 10 of work and the art planet needs the Moon to show itself in the world and the Moon is of course the planet of the flowing forms!! So you see the second important aspect of Gaudi’s work, the organic, in which there are few straight lines and angles. This flowing Moon is in mutual reception by exaltation with tight Saturn which is also Lord 5 of creativity, in this you see the dissolving effect of the Moon on the hardness of the straight lines. Remarkably enough, the Sun Part of abundance and spirit are on the MC, which promises a lot of success, it seems to almost literally give an image of the Sagrada Familia: abundance, spirit, height and success. The conjunction of the planetary points (= essences) of Venus and Jupiter at 20° Aquarius shows the core of his work: religion and art strongly connected.
