In the polls for the French presidential elections, Marine Le Pen is leading by a large margin, her conviction for financial malpractice has not harmed her. Her lead is so big that it sometimes seems decided, her closest competitors don’t come close to her. It also doesn’t seem to matter who will be her opponent in the second round of the presidential elections, according to the polls she will win against every opponent. Yet polls remain polls and of course things can always turn out differently.
Orator
One of her most promising competitors is the radical leftist Jean-Luc Mélénchon, who could become her opponent in the second round of the presidential elections. Those elections in France take place in two rounds, from the first round the two candidates with the best results go on to the decisive duel in the second round. Mélenchon has a chance to get into that second round, although he probably won’t win. One of the great assets of Mélenchon is his talent as an orator, he is exceptionally strong verbally, he is also a very skilled debater. Despite his age (from 1951), he uses social media, including TikTok, in a very effective way. Of course, that makes us very curious about Mercury in his chart!
Antiscion
In his radix we indeed see a very strong Mercury in Virgo in exaltation and in its own sign, which is of course very good for an orator and debater. BUT this Mercury is extremely weak in the twelfth house, making it difficult to show itself. Through antiscion, however, it is in conjunction with Jupiter, the planet of persuasion and great visions, through this antiscion the strong Mercury talent escapes the weakening by the twelfth house. It is noteworthy that Jupiter stands on Alpheratz, a star from Andromeda, the princess threatened by the Sea Monster, Mélenchon defends the weak and the poor against the evils of capitalism and liberalism in his political speeches.
Slow
Interestingly, Mercury is almost stationary, which may seem like a weakening, but it is more of a description of his style, he often builds in long pauses to reinforce the rhetorical power of his words. He can also work very well from those breaks towards a crescendo (Jupiter). Venus in conjunction with Mercury makes all this into a polished attractive whole. With an exceptionally good speaker, you can of course always look at the planetary part of Mercury, the pure electrifying energy of the planet. The Mercury part is on the cusp of the third house, of expressing vision and ideas!
